Yamaha sent a shudder through the drum industry. For low end that
shakes the floors, crisp highs that penetrate, and mids that ring
through the mix, insist on the power of oak.
100% OAK SHELLS
Yamaha is the only drum manufacturer bringing the full potential
of oak to a drum kit. From the punchy resonant lows of the
bass drum to a snare that bites and toms that cut through,
the power of oak definitely shakes things up. The bass drum
shell uses a 7-ply design while tom tom and floor tom shells
are 6-ply. All shells throughout the entire range deliver a
solid fundamental and powerful sound.
OAK LUGS
Oak custom drums feature newly designed lugs with small footprints
and single-bolt attachment that minimize surface contact and
maximize shell resonance and sustain. A nylon insert holds
tension rods in place under heavy play.
AIR SEAL SYSTEM
The use of our original Air Seal System is, in part, responsible
for the superior quality found in Yamaha drum shells. Our craftsmen
create every drum shell using our exclusive staggered diagonal seam,
just as they have since 1967. Each two or three-ply master ply is
cut to length to very precise tolerance with a diagonal cut on each
end. The diagonal seam in the drum shell will not separate, eliminating
the need to fill gaps in the bearing edge with filler putty. These
plies have glue applied and are then put into the mould by hand,
one master play at a time. By molding the woods in this fashion,
almost as if into a one-piece solid shell, we are able to harness
the optimal qualities of each wood. The craftsman then inserts an
air bag into the mold and inflates it, clamping the shell with even
pressure 360 degrees around. The resulting shells are perfectly round
and of uniform thickness delivering superior tone quality and exceptional
durability.
BALL
MOUNT & CLAMP
A tribute to Yamaha design technology, our original ball mount
and clamp has gone through very few modifications over the years.
A large, ultra-hard resin ball sits in an attractive chromed housing,
held in place with a titanium ergonomic wing bolt. It is the ultimate
drummer-friendly mount, offering non-slip positioning virtually
anywhere the drummer can imagine. Additionally, the ball mount
technology permits tuning of the bottom head by simply rotating
the drum.
Y.E.S.S.
Providing minimum mount to shell contact, the Yamaha Enhanced Sustain
System (YESS) delivers increased resonance plus maximizes dynamic
range and sustain. Mounts are attached at the drum's nodal point,
which is the location on a shell with the least amount of vibration
allowing for the mount to have minimal affect to the resonance of
the shell. Additionally. a nylon bushing in the rod clamp offers
enhanced stability and allows attachment of the drum to the tom holder
without the need of a hole in the drum shell. The YESS system permits
toms to be placed close together, and does not interfere with quick
head changes. On floor toms, our YESS system offers wide open sustain
while keeping toms stable under the heaviest strokes.
BASS DRUM LEGS
The result of years of refinement, Yamaha bass drum legs prevent
bass drums from creeping forward, in most instances without carpets
or tacky underlays. Quick and easy to use, Yamaha bass drum legs
keep bass drums rigid and immovable, even under the hardest pounding.
Thicker tubing, combined with drum key operated height adjustability
and easy-slide metal points, as found on our cymbal stands, provide
enhanced stability.
UNIVERSAL SIZE SHELLS
Oak
Custom shell depths are sized in between our "jazz" depth
and "power" depth drums. The universal size allows for
maximum projection while maintaining strong attack. Bass drums
are available in 18"x15" and 20", 22", and
24" diameters with a universal 17" depth. The added depth
enhances the oak's tone with greater bottom end and more power.
FOUR HIGH_GLOSS FINISHES
Oak Custom drums are available in four high-gloss finishes. Musashi
Black, Red Oak, and York Honey Amber are translucent hues that
bring out the distinctive beauty of the wood grain, while Silver
Sparkle glitters under lights, epitomizing a vintage look.
PRO-QUALITY HARDWARE
The kit comes complete with Yamaha's famous double-braced hardware
that has been the choice of professional drummers for years.
Made in the same factory as Yamaha motorcyles, the hardware is
simple, sleek, durable and allows for fast set-up every time.
